After this morning’s snow, the sun came out late this afternoon and the triplets actually posed for me. The youngest only started branching yesterday.
I don’t know what’s over there, but it MUST be interesting!

Where do you suppose last year’s triplets ended up? Seems like the neighborhood would be fuller.
Raptors have fairly large territories. Duluth Lakeside normally has about two nesting pairs. Given GHO’s do not migrate, the most likely scenario is last year’s triplets moved less than 50 miles. Most of the Northshore streams have excellent pine stands which be great spots to establish a territory where the owls would be protected during the day. Having farms or lots of open meadows near by is also a requirement.
