Day 038: Fog Birds!

Most of the time if you wake up and notice foggy conditions outdoors, the temptation will be to turn over and go back to sleep. After all, fog makes for tricky light and poor camera focusing because auto focus often bounces off the fog at undesired distances. Get out of bed! Fog also means calm conditions with neat photographic opportunities. Birds will be out eating early in the morning, and water will provide reflective conditions.

Here is today’s efforts, and a photo named Sea Smoke Arrival from six weeks ago. While the fog made for photographic challenges, it also provided provided great and sometimes mystical results.

Day 036: Wood Stork Hospital Bird

In Europe storks are looked upon as good luck, and people hope that these birds will nest upon their roofs. Throughout western civilization the stork is often identified with delivering new babies to happy families. Given I am unexpectedly down in Florida dealing with my Dad’s surgery, it seems appropriate I found this Wood Stork to photograph outside the hospital in a nearby pond while I was taking a quick break. I hope the stork is bringing my family good luck.
